The Assassin Spectre is a unique spectral enemy encountered in Fear & Hunger.

Lore

The Assassin Spectre was said to have hailed from the Far East, even farther than the Eastern Sanctuaries. He showed up one day without much explanation from his side, to assist in the prevention of the darkness spreading. He eventually died in the fight. However, he and his sword remain unaffected by the black, and his sheer iron will is manifested from his blade, showing the man's exceptional skill and will in his prime and in his life.

Location & behaviour

The assassin spectre can be encountered within The Thicket Level 5. On the leftmost part of the location (if it is the correct one), the player may find an abandoned sword (called the Eastern sword) stuck in the ground. If they attempt to pull it out, the fight with the assassin spectre will suddenly be initiated.

Note that the player can still fight this entity from any locations if they trigger the non-purified Eastern sword's event.

Strategy

As a spectral enemy it can only be harmed through status effects, otherworldly magic or otherworldly attacks. The assassin spectre has two attacks: a double attack and Horizontal sweep, which will happen at the end of the 2nd turn and can cut off limbs. It is advised to only fight it once the player's party can kill it within 2 turns, have arm guards or has a salmonsnake soul if solo.

Otherwise, the player can run as soon as they pick up the Eastern Sword and equip it to use against the spectre.

The Assassin Spectre will initiate battle in certain areas if it has not been defeated.
