- The New Gods when asked about the Harvestman.

The Harvestman is an enemy encountered in Fear & Hunger.

Location

Some can be found either in the The Passages of Ma'habre world, near the Temple District and near at the Tower of Endless, although the player requires to complete the dream, which this entity will appear in this location.

In Terror and Starvation mode, if the girl is part of the player's team, a special scene can unfold with the Harvestman found in Ma'habre - Temple district. Passing by a massive hole within one of the buildings will cause the Harvestman will suddenly reach out and snatch the girl, removing her from the party. The player may find them seated together at this Harvestman's regular location, with him gently petting her head; killing the Harvestman will cause the girl to rejoin.

Harvestmen are immune to out-of-battle damage. Arrows will pass through them, and Bear traps will not trigger when they walk over them.

Strategy

The Harvestman's actions for the first turn will only consist of smiling, whistling and petting the player. At the end of the second turn, he will use a coin flip attack and repeatedly use it every three turns. Failing to guard or not having Penance armor when you fail this coin flip will lead to an instant game over.

It is recommended to just go for the torso, use Black orb or a Priest's lantern on his head.

Trivia

  • The Harvestman's design was inspired by one of Kurt Cobain's album covers, more specifically from Montage of Heck: The Home Recordings.
  • Orange explains that the first design came from helping a friend to make a cover image for his EP.
  • The overworld entity acts in a very unusual manner, frequently getting stuck walking in place when reaching map limitations and will start a battle in seemingly impossible situations, such as through objects or from really far away.
  • Although most of the Harvestmen's coin flip attacks can be dodged by guarding, the only exception would be the specific Harvestman next to the grand library, as it will bypass the guard and enter the coin flip event anyway.
