Listed in-game as "Ancient book", it can only be read once and the player learns either one of these skills related to the Gro-Goroth affinity: Necromancy, Blood Golem, Hurting and Black orb. However, it comes with a cost: an coin flip must be succeeded to successfully read the book. Unlike most of other coin flips events, the additional lucky coin cannot be used and only one coin will be flipped for this interaction. Failing on the check will cause the player to succumb from the madness of peering into the pages of the Ancient book, causing a game over while succeeding will make the player learn one of these four spells.

Trivia

  • The book likely draws inspiration from the fictional grimoire Necronomicon that appears in stories written by the horror writer H. P. Lovecraft and his followers.
  • One of the titles attributed to the Ancient book is "Al Azif," presumably linked to the Azif lineage, which holds notoriety within occult circles in the fictional universe of Fear & Hunger. Among the wizards hailing from the Azif family is Hadil Azif, referenced in Fear & Hunger 2: Termina in playable character O'saa's backstory.
    • An alternate name for H. P. Lovecraft's Necronomicon is Kitab al-Azif. This further supports the idea that the Ancient book, alternatively known as "Al Azif", may draw inspiration from Lovecraft's literary works.
