Lucky coin
The Lucky Coin, is a mechanic in Fear & Hunger and Fear & Hunger 2: Termina. They are used in specific encounters, such as chests, or specific enemy attacks. They create a coin flip scenario, where a player has to pick a side of the coin - the choice determining whether the encounter will be successful or not.
They are also used as an item, which lets the player toss another lucky coin by holding SHIFT to raise the odds from 1/2 to 3/4. This mechanic was introduced in the Fear & Hunger Termina demo and Fear & Hunger ver. 1.3.0.
There are some events where using a lucky coin is not possible, such as reading the Ancient book. This is due to an oversight by the developer.
Description
"Lucky coin to be used in dire situations. Hold [SHIFT] while choosing head or tails to boost your chances."
Lucky coins can be found in crates, chests and on the ground through Fear & Hunger. It depicts the sigil of Gro-goroth on the tails side and a man wearing a crown of thorns on the heads side.
In Fear & Hunger
Location
- Level 2 - Thicket: Depends on the lay-out, but always around the middle or top section of the map.
- Level 3 - Prisons: Top-middle cell, neighboring Cahara's cell.
- Level 6 - Mines: In the hut right next to where you find D'arce.
- Ancient city - Back alleys: In the corner of the roof with the two braziers.
- Ancient city - Inside: Left from the hole in the wall next to the Tower of endless.
- Ancient city - Inside: In the long hallway that connects the Temple square to the Central square is a small room most left in the building.
- Ma'habre - Inside: After reading the passages of Ma'habre, to the left of the bridge is an open doorframe that you can enter.

Trivia
- The coin in the Level 2 - Thicket does not disappear after being picked up, so can be used to get infinite lucky coins.
