This page contains the status effects in Fear & Hunger. For the status effects in Fear & Hunger 2: Termina, see Status Effects F&H2.

Status Effects are the different inflictions that enemies, items or traps can have on your character and party members in Fear & Hunger. They represent the core dangers in the game, as they can render the player unable to fight or cause permanent problems. These effects are partially listed in Anathomia.

Debuffs that can be applied on the player and other party members.

Confused status1.png Confused Skip 2 turns.
  • Equipping Plate helmet, Gaunt bascinet or Penance armor
  • Wait 2 turns
  • Ending the battle
Fracture status1.png Fracture -20% Max BP,

Eventually becomes only -4% Max BP.

  • Being hit by Blunting attacks
Bleeding status1.png Bleeding -3% BP per turn.
  • Being hit by Stabbing attacks
  • Being hit by Chains of torment
  • Being hit by a arrow trap
  • Stepping on rusty nails
  • Losing/amputating limbs
Poisoned status1.png Poisoned -10% BP per turn.
  • Equipping Thorned ring
  • Consuming a White vial, Mix of red and green
Toxic status1.png Toxic -20% BP per turn.
  • Consuming a White vial, Mix of red and green
Infection arm status1.png Infected arm Death if not treated in time (Approximately 7 location changes. Actual time passed does not affect rate of infection).
  • Consuming the Green herb, Mix of red and green
  • Equipping Salmonsnake soul or Ring of the still-blood
  • Amputating a limb with a Bonesaw
  • Enemies that use Stabbing, Biting and Scratching attacks
  • Being bitten by a bookshelf rat

Blindness status1.png Blindness -75% Hit Rate, the screen will turn black outside of combat if it affects the protagonist.
Critical state status1.png Critical state On enemy attack or heal, reduces your BP to 1.
  • Equipping Salmonsnake soul
  • Taking damage
  • Ending the battle
  • Healing
Burning status1.png Burning -10% BP per turn.
  • Equipping Salmonsnake soul
  • Consuming Water vial
  • Ending the battle
Paralyzed status1.png Paralyzed Skip turns indefinitely.
  • Ending the battle
Parasites status.png Parasites Doubles the depletion of Hunger.
  • Worm juice
  • Being hit by Maneba's Injection
  • Consuming Raw meat, Rotten meat and Rotten Meatpie
Brain flower status.png Brain Flower -50% Hit Rate, attacks random allies.
  • Worm juice
  • Being attacked by pollen from the infected enemies
Anal bleed status.png Severe anal bleeding The character will pause at random intervals in addition to heavy blood loss.
Curse status.png Curse Affected character will have a countdown starting at 5 which will go down by 1 at the end of each turn, reaching 0 results in instant death.

Hunger LVL 1 status1.png Hunger (I) Body decreased to a maximum of 90, character damage decreased to 50%.
  • Consuming any food (next hunger tick removes debuff)
  • Reaching 49 hunger
Hunger LVL 2 status1.png Hunger (II) Body decreased to a maximum of 80.
  • Reaching 69 hunger
Hunger LVL 3 status1.png Hunger (III) Body decreased to a maximum of 70, character damage decreased to 30%.
  • Reaching 79 hunger
Hunger LVL 4 status1.png Hunger (IV) Body decreased to a maximum of 50, disables the player's legs.
  • Reaching 89 hunger
Hunger LVL 5 status1.png Hunger (V) Disables the player's eyes, body decreased to a maximum of 30, not eating while inflicted with this de-buff stage will cause death via starvation.

Fear (I-V) Learn suicide skill (protagonist only), become panophobic, low mind events.
  • Equipping Sorcerer's stone in combat
  • Consuming Ale, Bottle of whiskey, Wine vial, Elixir of mind or Blue demon powder
  • Smoking Tobacco or Opium powder
