Strategy
Fear & Hunger Mode
There is no reason to fight the obelisk, it has 999.999 hp and it gives no reward for defeating it, if the you destroyed the obelisk, you will receive the message that you won the fight. However, the obelisk will continue to be in the same place, allowing them to fight again with the same result, making the act of destroying it meaningless.
However, it is possible to farm Body points from the obelisk using either Leechmonger ring or Ring of wraiths, this is still not worth it because of the obelisk's "Shiver" attacls which will almost certainly give you panophobia, but you can slow down the mind damage by guarding.
- The Pinecone Pig will not trigger during the battle against the Irrational Obelisk.
Masoχ-S/M Mode
The same strategy for Fear & Hunger Mode applies.

Trivia
- The Pinecone Pig will not trigger during the battle against the Irrational Obelisk.
- Irrational Obelisk is one of the few enemies in the Fear & Hunger series that can inflict every possible phobia during the battle.
- According to an interview with Dark RPGs, the Irrational Obelisk is modeled directly after an art installation Miro Haverinen had seen years previously in Helsinki, Finland. According to Haverinen, his lifelong "irrational phobia for buttoned shirts" made the installation particularly eerie, inspiring the enemy and its moniker "Irrational Obelisk".
Warning! Speculation ahead!
Information below is hinted on, but wasn't directly confirmed in-game. |
- There is some speculation that the Obelisk is a delusion by the player; it is meant to represent the player's party attacking a regular pile of clothes to no effect, with the Mind damage representing the party being slowly driven insane.
