Strategy

Fear & Hunger Mode

Standing still while a Shadowy figure is opposing you will make them disappear after a couple of seconds without starting a battle, making it the best way to deal with them.
If you were being chased by an enemy and were unable to stand still, just unequip your weapon and attack with your fists. It's not worth using spells unless you have Greater Hurting or Greater Black Orb.

  • Note that killing the Shadowy figure will not kill it but instead make it disappear, and it will spawn again.

Masoχ-S/M Mode

The same strategy for Fear & Hunger Mode applies.

Trivia

  • The way they sit and stare is reminiscent of an onryo, Toshio Saeki, from the Japanese horror TV series, Ju-on.
