Strategy

Fear & Hunger Mode

The best strategy to deal with cherubs is to take them out in the overworld, dying to a single round of any firearm. If lacking ammo, these enemies can still be killed easily by focusing on their torso, since they can usually be killed in a single attack. If you are fighting more than one of them alone, you should use throwable area of effect items such as the Murky Vial to take them all out immediately as the Critical State debuff inflicted by Crescent claw can be very threatening. If you are unfortunate enough to be inflicted with Critical state, consider running from battle to cure it as healing or getting hit will bring you down to 1 health.

Masoχ-S/M Mode

Same as Fear & Hunger Mode, although taking them out with firearms is a major priority as they might not fall in a single hit due to damage reduction, putting you at greater risk of being inflicted with Critical State and losing all of your BP.

Player:
“The developing body of this child-like creature has gone through severe malformations. Many anatomical points suggest that this creature once was a human child. The prolonged neck and claws are the biggest cases of curiosity, but the skin also looks like it was burned or boiled at some point in time. The skin feels dry and brittle. The creature's frame isn't very sturdy, it's weak against piercing physical attacks as well as otherwordly powers and fire.”
