The Platoon is taking an aim...
- Your cue to start praying.

The Platoon is a boss encountered in Fear & Hunger 2: Termina. It is accompanied by Sylvian trooper.

Lore

A grotesque, malformed humanoid head attached to a cannon, walking on all fours and seemingly amalgamated from multiple human bodies, the Platoon bears a resemblance to the more grotesque results of the Marriage of Flesh ritual conducted in reverence of the Old God Sylvian in the past. It lacks the capacity for speech, yet hints of understanding flicker within the many heads and faces combined in the Platoon's form.

Location

The combination of the Sylvian trooper and the Platoon is a guaranteed encounter in the final hallway toward Kaiser, in White Bunker. Moving down the corridor causes a small animated scene before immediately initiating combat. Nonetheless, the player has the option to bypass this cinematic by sprinting towards the Sylvian trooper and touching her, which will delay the Platoon's presence in the fight. If the Sylvian trooper is defeated before the Platoon catches up, the battle concludes, sparing the player from facing it.

In Masoχ-S/M mode, another Platoon will appear in the Ruined streets near the staircase leading to West Prehevil if the player has activated the telelectroscope in Tunnel 1.

Strategy

Fear & Hunger Mode

Can be avoided if the player ambushes the Sylvian trooper by catching up to her and kills her in the first turn.

Thematic to the Platoon being a tank engine entity, it sports an absolutely massive health pool. While the Sylvian trooper is still alive, she will whip the player to inflict Bleeding. She will also force the Platoon to initiate a coin flip attack every other turn, otherwise, it has a 50% chance of using it every turn. If the player fails the coin flip, the Platoon will shoot the main character unless Pheromones has been used, causing 160-240 damage. Without the Hardened heart, it will essentially serve as an instant kill move. If the player succeeds with the coin flip or the Platoon doesn't initiate one, it will instead charge at the player for 40-60 blunt damage.

Masoχ-S/M Mode

In Masoχ-S/M mode, the Platoon found in the Ruined streets will initiate a coin flip every turn as long as its cannon isn't destroyed, as well as slam with both arms for 28-45 blunt damage.

Dialogues

Talk

  • Platoon: “Grroumph... groumph...” The platoon doesn't seem to be capable of speech. You can however see a glimmer of understanding in the various heads and faces you see joint in this tangled mess.

Interactions

This enemy can be interacted with, but the only thing you'll get is this message: “The hulking thing is dead now.”

Trivia

  • The Platoon and Sylvian trooper combo were one of the winners in a monster design contest held in the official Discord channel for the series. It was designed by Fear & Hunger Discord user vladstori.
    • The original design was named Spank tank, which is also the name the Platoon's image has in game files.
  • It is one of the four enemies who appear more frequently/exclusively in Masoχ-S/M mode.
  • The Sylvian trooper can be caught up to, to start the fight before the Platoon arrives; the Platoon is then chastised by the trooper for being late.
  • The Platoon that shows up in Masoχ-S/M mode can be avoided entirely by going south from the Tent in the deepest woods, towards the beginning of the game.
