Reason: Strategy needs a rewrite.

Stitches and Living flesh are a boss encountered in Fear & Hunger 2: Termina.

Lore

Stitches has sewn her mouth partially shut and has numerous sewn cuts scattered around her body. She is likely the creator of monstrosities such as the Sew jobs and the Living flesh.

When playing as Daan, there are indications that Stitches resembles his deceased wife, Elise Von Dutch. During the Second Great War, the Von Dutch manor was overtaken by the occult, resulting in a ritual sacrifice of the family members to please the Sulfur God. Daan attempted to resurrect Elise, sacrificing his left eye to do so, but his efforts proved to be in vain. The circumstances of Elise's transformation into Stitches – assuming she is indeed Elise – and how she ended up in Prehevil remain a mystery. It is uncertain whether Stitches still retains any semblance of her former self as Elise or if she is merely a vessel being controlled by some other force, or if her similarity to Elise is a disturbing coincidence.

Location & Behaviour

Stitches and Living flesh will be on the first level in Tunnel 1. Stitches will only appear in the Overworld after picking up one of the gas canisters in Tunnel 1 or if killed.

Strategy

Fear & Hunger Mode

The best way to deal with Stitches is using any magic attack on the head seeing that her head has 20 hp and 0 magic evasion. if the player does not have magic attacks then murky vials , pipe bombs or gasoline canisters can work.

Masoχ-S/M Mode

The same strategy for Fear & Hunger Mode applies.

Dialogues

Talk

  • Stitches: “Mmmf...mmm...” Stitches is mumbling something, but her mouth is stitched shut so she cannot talk properly.
    • Player: [PERSUADE] “You don't look like one of those monsters above...”
      • Stitches: “Mmffft... hmm.” Stitches swipes her hair to the sides of her head. She swirls around in a clumsy manner while admiring her own body. Stitches seems to be halting her attacks briefly. You are surprised yourself how easy it was to actually persuade her... (+Hesitation)
      • If repeated:
      • Stitches: “Mffm!” Your persuasion efforts don't seem to work anymore. (-Hesitation)
    • Player: [INTIMIDATE] “I'll break you like a twig you are.”
      • Stitches: “Ffffffmmmm...!” Stitches tries to mime spitting, but because of her stitches it doesn't quite work. You interpret this as her getting angry though. (+Furious)
      • If repeated:
      • Stitches: “Mffm!” Your intimidation tactics don't seem to work anymore.
    • Player: “Can you understand me?”
      • Stitches: “Mmmf...hm...” Whatever that meant.
    • Player: “Please stay away!”
      • Stitches: “Mmfka, mmfka, mmfkaa...” Sounds like cackling.
    • Player: “Prepare to die.”
      • Stitches: “Mmmf...hm...” Whatever that meant.

If Stitches is dead:

  • The creature doesn't have a mouth, or even a distinct head... Your attempts to discuss with the creature are in vain.

Use Brain flower Success “You've laid down the seed for the flower.”
Use Heart flower Success “You've laid down the seed for the flower.”
Beat her Nothing “No reaction, but each kick gives you satisfaction.”

Player with Diagnosis:
“The person looks to have a rather normal female body. A little bit more muscular than usual perhaps, but nothing out of ordinary. She has sewn her mouth partly shut and there appears to be more sewn cuts scattered around her body. Their purpose is unknown to you, but they do distort her face beyond recognition. Because of the sewn cuts, the body is especially weak against slashing attacks that might open the cuts. Also blunt attacks might open the stitches.”
If Daan is in the party:
  • Daan: “The person looks to have a rather normal female body. A little bit more muscular than usual perhaps, but nothing out of ordinary. She has sewn her mouth partly shut and there appears to be more sewn cuts scattered around her body. Their purpose is unknown to be, but they do distort her face beyond recognition... ... ...” Daan looks shaken up. His eyes are wide as he stares the woman.
    • Player: “What's wrong?”
      • Daan: “... Let's just go. I really need fresh air.”
    • Player: “Are you alright?”
      • Daan: “... Let's just go. I really need fresh air.”
    • Player: “...”
If playing as Daan:
“The person looks to have a rather normal female body. A little bit more muscular than usual perhaps, but nothing out of ordinary. She has sewn her mouth partly shut and there appears to be more sewn cuts scattered around her body. Their purpose is unknown to you, but they do distort her face beyond recognition. But despite that... She eerily reminds you of someone... The more you entertain the idea, the more certain you become of this haunting realization. No matter how disfigured her face would be, you would always recognize your wife Elise... This woman has her appearance. You are 100% certain of this now. But it's impossible. She is dead... Either you are losing your mind slowly but surely, this place has finally gotten the best of you... Or maybe there is some other sinister reasoning behind all this... You hope that it is only your mind that is crumbling here... You wish Elise has her rest now... ”

Living flesh

“The monstrosity is down...”
Action Result Flavour text
Use Brain flower Failure “The creature has no distinct head, so you cannot plant your seed.”
Use Heart flower Failure “The creature has no distinct head, so you cannot plant your seed.”
Beat it Nothing “No reaction from the creature. Each kick sinks deep as the living flesh is just a sack of fat and muscles.”
Medical diagnosis Nothing
Player with Diagnosis:
“The living flesh looks to be a lumpy mass of fat and muscles. It is barely able to function. Examining the stitching marks, it looks like the entity consists of multiple different humans that were sewn together. Because the creature's skin is exposed, it is vulnerable to all kinds of attacks.”
If Daan is in the party:
“The thing looks to be a lumpy mass of fat and muscles. It is barely able to function. Examining the stitching marks, it looks like the entity consists of multiple different humans that were sewn together. Could it be an artificial life of some kind? Because the creature is butt-naked, it is vulnerable to all kinds of attacks.”

Saw off its head Failure “The creature has no distinct head to saw off.”

Daan

If playing as Daan, upon fighting Stitches there will be an additional text box:

  • Something about her feels strange...

Alternatively, if Daan is in the player's party:

  • Stitches: “Mmmf...mmm...” Stitches is trying to gesture something, but you make sense of her...

Death cutscene

If defeated by Stitches, a short cutscene is played where the player and their party and sewn together to the end of the existing human centipede.

Trivia

  • Stitches' design is inspired by Marilyn Manson's appearance in The Beautiful People music video.
  • The death cutscene pays homage to the movie The Human Centipede series.
  • The Living Flesh bears some resemblance to the flesh creature found in I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, a horror story and video game by Harlan Ellison.
